The Food Noise Phenomenon

There is lots of chat these days about a food noise and in particular how GLP-1 Medications helps to diminish it.

Food noise is described as persistent, intrusive or repetitive thoughts about food… and there can be many drivers for this.

Often, this is down to not eating enough … dieting and reducing your food intake so low that your body is crying out for nourishment. Diet culture would have you believe that giving into this strong survival mechanism is lack of willpower!!!! FFS!!!

But for some people, and in our experience many women, there is also a psychological or emotional reason too. May women use food to self soothe/self medicate.

This isn’t something that GLP -1 medications can help with … this requires you to other and unpack and understand the drivers that have led you to over eat/binge/think about food.

GLP-1 medications can do a lot … but it is not a magic wand.

Today meet Emma

A qualified sports massage therapist with a genuine passion for helping people feel and perform at their best. Before starting her own business, Emma spent 18 years in the ambulance service, developing a strong commitment to care, resilience, and supporting others through challenging situations.

Today, Emma brings that same dedication into her practice, working with a wide range of clients—from those looking to ease everyday aches and pains to elite sports people striving for peak performance.

Outside of work, Emma is a proud mum of two girls and a dog owner to two much-loved pups, which keeps life busy, active, and full of energy.

Hands up who remembers this controversial quote from the noughties? 🙋🏼‍♀️

Diet culture has really done a number on us women, drip drip dripping the message that Thin is In!!

This in turn led to many of us developing a disordered relationship with food and our bodies. Wishing and wanting to be smaller versions of ourselves.

Now with the new GLP1 Medications flooding the landscape of health and weight loss the message is very much “Why Not Be Thin”

These medications have also brought with them more shame and judgement .. take them .. don’t take them… judgment and shame in equal measure.

But what if there were another way?

How about developing a new relationship with food

A relationship based on nourishing and nurturing yourself. The ultimate act of self care.

We are women on a mission to support women turn their back on diet culture and develop new positive healthy habits for life.
